Arts Alive Galway are proud to present their first group exhibition, “Act I” which features three exhibits: “Rights – Act I”, “Open Studios” & “Climate Glitch”.
Arts Alive Galway is a new community based arts programme set in the heart of Galway City’s West End.
Members of the team are Project Coordinator, Gaie Stewart and Arts Programme Facilitators, Gary Walshe and Laura O’ Connell.
They provide an innovative programme of arts training for young adults with an intellectual disability where they can focus on both personal and artistic development.
These artists also enjoy working as an ensemble, bringing performing arts projects and exhibits to a high standard, giving their group a voice and a place in the artistic community.
They also collaborate with other Community Groups such as Galway Community Circus, That’s Life, Connection Artists, Galway Advocacy Council, Dublin Digital Radio and many more.
“Rights - Act I” features a multimedia exhibit exploring member artist’s experiences of advocacy and human rights for people with disabilities, creatively directed by lead artist Gary Walshe. Exhibition Team: Alan Keady, Eilish Lee, Róisín de Búrca and David Mc’Anena. with Participating Artists: Amy Clarke, Aoife King, Damien Graham, Natasha Lydon and James O’ Connell.
This exhibition grew from a collaboration with Galway Advocacy Council where Arts Alive made a short film called “Mission Impossible”. The short film highlights the development of the new Charter of Rights 2021.
This was produced by Jackie Moran from the National Advocacy Council, directed by Gary Walshe and filmed by Alison McDonnell White with performances by the Arts Alive Artists.
This short film is available to view as part of the exhibition.
